I'd Like to Thank the Academy...

Greetings! So as you can see this post is a little different from my typical fashion post. I've been nominated for a Liebster Award by the lovely Ashley Maria, creator of Ciao Bella, and I wanted to share what it was all about. The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Liebster is a German word meaning sweetest, kindest, nicest, lovely, pleasant, and endearing. Its purpose is to build a sense of community in the blogging world by spreading the word about new blogs on the scene. I truly appreciate the love! The rules of the Liebster award are as follows:

  1. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  2. Answer the eleven questions from the person who nominated you.
  3. Write down eleven more questions.
  4. Nominate eleven more bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
  5. Let the bloggers you've chosen know about it!
Ciao Bella's Questions & My answers:

1. Where are you from? The DMV, more specifically Maryland.

2. How old are you? I'm 21, I'll be 22 next week!

3. What do you like to do for fun? I love shopping, spending time with my family, checking out my favorite You-tubers, cooking, eating, and singing.

4. What go you in to blogging? I've always been obsessed with fashion so I thought it would be a great platform to share my love and to show other young ladies that you can be both fashionable and modest in 2013.

5. What is one beauty product that you cannot live without? I would have to say Shea butter. I use it for everything!

6. What is one fashion product (clothing, shoe, or accessory) that you cannot live without? I have an obscene shoe collection.

7. Where do you like to go to relax? I love the beach.

8. Choose one: Mani or Pedi? Why? Pedi because I like clean simple fingernails so I can pretty much handle that on my own, but a good pedicure... ALWAYS hits the spot.

9. What's your favorite food? My absolute favorite food is french fries! I love them all but especially with good honey mustard or McDonald's sweet & sour sauce.

10. What's your favorite food? I love food so I'll answer this question again lol, my second favorite would have to be Chicken Parmesan (or any chicken really!).

11. Where's your favorite place to vacation? I went on a mission trip last summer to the Dominican Republic and fell completely in love. I seriously wish I didn't have to come back. The people are so friendly and so full of love and I convinced myself that I am now Dominican lol. I will defiantly return for both business and pleasure in the near future.

So the  bloggers that I am nominating are:

1.  Typhanie of My Garments of Praise
2. Chandra of MoMoMod
3.  Passion of Passion Jonesz

My questions are:

1. Who is your favorite designer?
2. What's your favorite beauty product?
3. What's your favorite scripture/inspirational quote?
4. Who are your favorite fashion icons?
5. What got you interested in blogging?
6. What is one place you'd love to go?
7. What is your favorite movie?
8. What do you wish you had more time to do?
9. What's the one thing you think every girl should have in their wardrobe?
10. What is your hair product?
11. What do you consider to be the number one rule in fashion?

Once again, I want to thank Ashley of Ciao Bella for the nomination!

Pretty in Peplum

Dress: Ross :: Shoes: Mia :: Clutch: Ross :: Belt: Macy's

Hello everyone! As I'm sure you've noticed peplum has been returned to the fashion forefront once again and will be a huge trend into the fall. Peplum dates all the way back to Ancient Greek clothing but the peplum as we know it today is a derivative of the fit and flare fashions of the 1940's jackets. I've had a love/hate relationship with the return of the peplum in fashion lately because as I mentioned in my first post, I love the feminine fashions of the 1940's and 1950's so I'm no stranger to the appreciation of a good peplum dress. While I obviously love the silhouette, when something becomes trendy it loses its uniqueness and something that was a part of your distinct style now just blends in with the crowd. I found this dress while I was out dorm shopping for my sisters. Of course I didn't stick to the task at hand and wandered off into the dress section where I found this gem for under $20! I loved the color and the price sealed the deal. I didn't try it on in the store, luckily, it fit. It is a tad short for my liking, but I may let the hem out which I'm sure will put it right where I'd like it to be. How do you feel about the peplum trend and what other vintage styles do you think will be resurrected from the fashion grave this upcoming season?

Miss Metallic

Fashion Facts :: Shirt: Old Navy :: Skirt: Express  :: Shoes: Guess  :: Clutch: Ross

Metallic in shoes have been a huge trend on recent runways such as Dolce & Gabbana and Diane von Furstenberg to name a few. I originally found a similar pair of metallic pumps on Shoe Dazzle but, they were sold out in my size. I was out shopping with my mom a few days later and found this pair for only $20. I was so excited, the silver metallic color on the classic silhouette gives this pump a bit of an edge. I'm now obsessed with pointed toe shoes and I think that I'll be gravitating more  towards classic pumps instead of my usual 6 inch platforms. What have been your favorite summer trends and what are your fashion plans for this upcoming season?
