Fashion Facts:: Hat: Target :: Blouse: Old Navy :: Skirt: Forever21 :: Bag: Vintage Coach :: Glasses: Christian Dior :: Coat: Mossimo

This is a casual look that I wore on a recent excursion to The District. It was a painful twenty-seven degrees that day but, this dark blue Mossimo coat along with my black tights and boots protected me from the arctic temperatures (Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic but anything under 60 degrees is a bit much for me) for the most part. I paired this printed chambray blouse from Old Navy with this faux leather paneled skirt from Forever21. I visited some of my favorite spots before I met up with my sister at Union Station where I did a little shopping and scored some really great deals! When we made our way back downtown I saw a homeless person bundled up on bench sleeping. I thought about how that so easily could have been me or someone that I love and it reminded me to always be grateful for everything in my life because no matter how obtuse my problems may seem, there's always someone who would love to be in my shoes.

I hope that everyone had a great, fun filled Thanksgiving!

Diff'rent Dots

 Fashion Facts:: Jacket: Forever21 :: Dress: H&M :: Purse: Thrifted :: Shoes: DV by Dolce Vita

Hello all! This is just a simple easy look that I threw together. I love this polka dotted dress that I found about a year ago at H&M. I added the polka dotted belt with the inverted colors of the dress to give the dress some shape and to make it this look a little more interesting. I was torn on whether or not I should post this look because it was so cold and windy the day that I wore this outfit. The glacial temperature definitely inspired the fastest photography session in the history of my blog lol. I'll certainly be pulling out my heavier coats later to help combat this weather. I hope that your enjoying your day & stay warm!

Black & Wheat

 Fashion Facts:: Jacket: Forever21 :: T-Shirt: Forever21 :: Skirt: Forever21 :: Bag: Forever21 :: Boots: Timberland

The leaves have all fallen and the cool temperatures have officially settled in, which means Autumn is in full swing. Despite my disdain for the cold, I love living in an area where I can experience all four seasons. If you live in or around the District you have to go visit Howard University around this time of year. The multicolored leaves around the historic buildings is completely breathtaking. Anyways, if you've been following my blog for awhile, I'm sure you've noticed that I've deviated from my usual look with this ensemble. Every now and then I think its fun to mix things up and this look also gave me the opportunity to dabble in the sports lux trend that's been popular since the beginning of the summer. Now even though I was the only girl in my high school gym class to intercept the ball and make a touchdown during our football unit (while wearing a skirt I might add), I don't consider myself as much of an athlete but luckily the sporty trend doesn't require you to be one. The sports lux trend is a conglomerate of sporty and feminine pieces that come together to create a fun, edgy look. I paired these all black pieces from Forever21 with the classic wheat colored Timberland boots that I purchased over the summer. This is something that I would throw on to go to the grocery store but I don't think that this could be an everyday look for me.

Fur Frenzy

Fashion Facts:: Dress: Ross :: Jacket: Forever21 :: Fur Collar: Ebay :: Shoes: Fioni :: Bag: Thrifted

Hello all! This past week has been very busy and exciting for me, but I'm back from my short blogging hiatus. Since my last post, my fourth nephew was welcomed into the world and he's absolutely perfect! I've been excited for months (nine to be exact) to meet him and I'm so glad that he's finally here. It feels like its been forever since I've posted but I'm glad to be back into the swing of things! This is a look I wore to a casual work meeting and to do a little shopping. I didn't wear my fabulous fuax fur collar to my meeting, but I added it later for warmth since the cold temperatures are finally starting to settle in here in Maryland. I've been eying this collar ever since last year and I finally decided to purchase it a few weeks ago. I love that it can be dressed up or worn casually. Faux fur is always a huge trend every fall and winter and this season is no different. Faux fur in fun colors are available in hats, vests, coats, and collars add a great accent to any outfit. I got this dress over the summer and only had a chance to wear it once so, I decided to pair it with some black tights to make it weather appropriate. The gold belt was added as a accent and to create a more flattering silhouette.  I hope that you've been well!

Vintage Hound

 Fashion Facts:: Jacket: Forever21 :: Blouse: Forever21 :: Skirt: Eddie Bauer :: Shoes: DV by Dolce Vita

This is a look that I put together for church for this past Sunday. Unfortunately, I never actually made it to the service due to unforeseen circumstances, but I thought I would share my ensemble anyways. This skirt is in the great classic houndstooth print, which just happens to be one of my personal favorites. Its one of those prints that you can pair with just about anything to create a classic chic look. I love the vintage feel of this look and I thought that my braids would give this look a modern edge but it ended up just looking reminiscent of a huge 60's bouffant. Classic prints and cuts, like this skirt, always look timeless no matter what era its from and that's the beauty of classic fashion. You could find a pencil or wiggle dress from the 50s and pair it with stilettos and a great clutch and look completely appropriate and modern because of the timeless silhouette.  For me, finding great vintage items is like striking gold, especially if I can actually fit them, the lovely ladies of yesteryear had itty-bitty little waists (and everything else for that matter!).  I know that more than likely its an item nobody else is going to have and the possible history behind it fascinates me. What are your thoughts on vintage clothing? Is it something that your interested in or do you find it strange to wear someones old clothes? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below and I hope that you enjoy the rest of your week!

Side note: please excuse my puffy eyes in these photos, sleep is a luxury for the rich that I cannot afford.
